Project Description
The world-class Battle Command Training Center (BCTC) was designed to simulate battle field conditions within a classroom setting, utilizing a cost effect method of training. At the time of construction, there were 13 BCTC facilities to be constructed at various military installations throughout the world. Currently there are 3 BCTC facilities under construction in the United States and 1 in Japan. From sources within the BCTC organization, the team is happy to report that the facility in Fort Riley was the 1st completed training center.
This project included the construction of an 80,000 sq ft. Battle Command Training Center (BCTC), Access Control Point, Tactical Operations Center (TOC) Pads, special foundations and communication/antennae structure. Support Facilities included site development and improvements, utility extensions, parking for tactical and POV vehicles, access road, storm drainage and security systems.
The design of the building incorporated several unique finishes to the exterior shell such as a corrugated panel system, translucent panels, masonry, and a composite panel system integrated by JE Jacobs Architects. The TOC pads adjacent to the building and incorporating the antennae farm located atop the building allow heavy equipment to stage for field maneuvers. State of the art communications and security systems allow for personnel in the BCTC to communicate in real time at any location the military is deployed.
This project had increased costs due to several modifications made by the Owner to include: Electronic Security System, 30 additional 30 amp circuits, pad mounted transformer, and corrugated metal panels. Even with these changes this project was finished a week ahead of schedule, thanks to the project management skills of the entire MW Builders team.
