Ector County ISD was faced with significant challenges associated with extreme population growth. MW Builders served as construction manager-at-risk for the construction of three new elementary schools located in Odessa, TX. The concept adapts an identical, prototypical design to three individual sites. Each building consists of two-story, concrete, tilt-wall construction totaling 90,100 SF.
Each elementary includes a covered exterior court, a conditioned gymnasium, administrative space, a commercial kitchen, a large commons area with stepped risers extending to the second floor, and a black box theater area for programs and presentations.
Each classroom wing features extensive educational technology, with media hubs supporting pods for each grade level. Classroom walls are movable, allowing for multiple configuration of the interior space to support ECISD's curriculum for equipping students with 21st-century skills. Many moving glass walls also allow for natural daylight and uninterrupted lines of sight throughout the space.
